New Zealand Manuka Honey contains a unique plant phenol Methylglyoxal (MGO) that is created from a naturally-occurring compound called dihydroxyacetone (DHA) found in high quantities only in mānuka flower nectar. A precursor for MGO. DHA is slowly converted to MGO during honey maturation. MGO is what gives manuka honey its unique antibacterial qualities.
Bee Inn Manuka Honey of UMF 20+ (MGO 829+) has a MGO level of not less than 829mg/kg of Methylglyoxal, in other words, it has an antibacterial strength as a 20% solution of phenol.
A quality assured that the Bee Inn Manuka Honey is independently laboratory tested and certified to ensure that the MGO level is not less than 829mg/kg and purity assured that the source of the Manuka Honey is documented and traceable from the honey boxes to the operator.
